Best Destinations for RVing Snow Birds

Posted: November 1, 2021

Some RVers don’t prefer to lock up their rigs for the winter. Instead of sticking around in their cold neck of the woods, they'd rather head to sunnier spots and warmer waters. If you haven’t yet established a favorite winter hideaway that you return to year after year, we have a few suggestions — and even if you have, you might just be tempted to give one of these lovely locales a chance this winter.

Phoenix

Phoenix is a fantastic destination to visit over the winter months. With warm temperatures, no humidity and plenty to see and do, it’s easy to see why it’s become a favorite with so many RVers.

Phoenix boasts a bevy of RV resorts, but one of the favorites is Desert Shadows RV Resort, with its near-700 RV spots and convenient location that puts you near shopping, golf, dining and more. On-site amenities range from an indoor heated pool to a library, to organized activities like golf outings, dances, potlucks and exercise classes.

When you’re ready to leave your resort — whichever you choose —  you’ll find lots to do, whether you want to visit one of downtown Phoenix’s many museums or you’d rather stay outside, with a round of golf, hike up Camelback Mountain or more leisurely walk through the Desert Botanical Garden.

The Florida Keys

Why stay anywhere else in Florida, when the Keys are right there, offering you gorgeous, Caribbean-esque beaches and waters, with no need to hop a flight?

One of our favorite spots to camp in the Florida Keys is at Bahia Honda State Park, on Big Pine Key. Here, you can avoid all of the crowds and hustle and bustle on Key West, while also enjoying one of the most celebrated star-gazing spots in the southern U.S.

For an ultra-luxury camping experience in the Florida Keys, try Bluewater Key Luxury RV Resort. Sites come with an impressive number of amenities, including landscaping, outdoor seating and wet bars, outdoor televisions and even boat slips.

Myrtle Beach

For something a little further north, but still far enough south that you’ll be able to take advantage of warmer winter temperatures, Myrtle Beach delivers tons of family fun (perfect for coaxing the kids and grandkids for a holiday visit!) and affordability in one compact space. Between the shopping, the beaches and the golf courses, there’s always something to do.

For a Myrtle Beach stay this winter, try Briarcliffe RV Resort, with its neighborhood vibe, Olympic pool overlooking the intracoastal waterway, and special rates for snowbirds.
